enjoying the little things this christmas and why I am! In collaboration with JORD watches.
Christmas is a really busy time and it’s so easy to get caught up in the hype, commercialism, presents and the ‘big picture’. At least that’s how I feel sometimes. I’ve spoken before about how extra chaos and the perceived pressures around this time can really overwhelm and add extra stress where there doesn’t have to be any! Not to mention how tiring one can get shopping all day (my back still hurts from all that walking!)
That’s why this year I want to try to do things a little differently. This year I want to remember to enjoy the little things more. To find the little beautiful moments, small luxuries and sweet moments in amongst the chaos that is the holiday season.
Basically I just want to actually enjoy the Christmas vibes and joy! After all, Christmas and holidays are a time to spend more time with family and friends, get excited about what lies ahead next year and relax.
I was so excited when JORD watches reached out to me to collaborate on this post. Their watches are simply beautiful, crafted from wood and classically designed. Clasping on my JORD watch for the first time reminded me of the simple pleasure of taking time out to put the finishing touches on my outfit. It’s a simple thing but so effective. And I thought why not apply that same thought to Christmas preparations? Finding pleasure in and enjoying the little things while preparing for Christmas festivities.
In my last post I talked about finding ways to be less stressed over Christmas. I believe that consciously being present and delighting in the little things is another way to achieve that.
But what does that look like?
For me this means I’m going to remember to take some time out of the busy days leading up to Christmas. A little time out for myself. This can be as simple as putting on my JORD watch and other favourite accessories in the morning. Or staying in my pyjamas just a little bit longer.
I’m going to enjoy being present with friends and family at holiday events and catch ups. I want to notice the excited light in my friends eyes as they recount a funny story and the beaming smiles of family as everyone reunites once again for a holiday celebration.
I want to take pleasure in the seemingly small tasks – putting the finishing touches on a Christmas cake, tying the final bow on a gift and decorating the Christmas tree with a cherished ornament. Perhaps one that has been passed down through the years.
I’m going to enjoy eating little treats. A chocolate snuck from the jar on the counter, delicious gingerbread straight from the oven. And my favourite, hot chocolate with marshmallows! The more the better of course.
In all the craziness that is Christmas I hope that you might remember to take some time out and start enjoying the little things. I promise it will make a difference and keep you focussed on what is important.
And if you love the classic JORD watch featured in this post and think it would make a beautiful gift follow this link to view. JORD has many other beautiful and unique ladies and mens wooden watches as well. All of them would make a thoughtful gift for a loved one (especially as they offer personalised engraving as well!)
Until next time lovelies,
