weekend brunch fun, some flowers and an amazing friend!
Hello lovely people! Today I’m skipping out on the usual ‘Friday Finds‘ (sorry if you really like those!) because I want to instead share about what I got up to last weekend! Because it was really fun, relaxing and refreshing.
By nature I’m not an overly spontaneous person, though I love the idea of spontaneity, I’m a planner at heart. Which is what made last weekend all the more exciting. You see, my sister, Chani, and I have not seen each other in ages as she lives six hours away, so finding time to spend together is difficult. But last week whilst on one of our famously long phone calls to one another, we just decided to book a hotel room halfway between our homes and meet for the weekend to spend some much needed sister-friend time.
So on a Friday afternoon I packed up my car and drove to Port Augusta to meet my friend!
We ate a delicious dinner of soup on the hotel room balcony, watched heaps of movies and talked until five in the morning about anything and everything. It was glorious and so refreshing (despite only having two hours of sleep that first night!) Anyone who has a sister, or a friend who is basically a sister, would know how important those lengthy late night conversations are for unloading, gaining new perspectives on issues and sharing thoughts. For me, my sister-friend is one of those friends who I trust most with everything and I’ll always be grateful and happy for her friendship! #warmfuzzies
Anyway, bright and early on Saturday morning (read = 10.30am) we picked up some beautiful blooms and then hopped on down to Mama Lou’s cafe for some much needed brunch! Brunch has to be the best kind of meal ever (aside from actual breakfast that is) in my opinion. Especially if said brunch is enjoyed at leisure with copious amounts of coffee and chai lattes! And excellent company of course.
Weekend brunch – zucchini fritters with bacon, eggs, tomato and avocado. Absolutely delicious!
Tired, squinty eyes and goofy smiles!
My friend is so gorgeous!
That ornamental kale is such a pretty colour.
As an aside, Port Augusta is actually an alright place to spend a weekend. I think it gets a bad rap sometimes (due to its kind of seedy history) but I really enjoyed my time there. Probably had something to do with the company I spent it with though! That, and the Majestic Oasis where we stayed is simply lovely. I would definitely recommend staying there if you ever find yourself in PA!
Well, I hope that ya’ll have a great weekend! I encourage you to spend it with friends, maybe having a leisurely weekend brunch or a much needed catch-up. I’m telling you there’s nothing like being in good company with some good food. It’s the simple things right?!

Until next time lovelies!
