high tea surprise birthday for my mama
It must be the English side of me, but there’s nothing I love more than a chic, delicious high tea. The pretty teacups and teapots, delicious treats, good company – what’s not to love!? My Mum also shares this love of the quintessential English high tea so I decided it would be a perfect way to give her a surprise birthday party. Well I say surprise but she sort of half-guessed before we arrived…..but what can I say? She’s a Mum! They seem to have a knack for figuring these things out. She says its like a sixth sense or something.
The venue was the simply beautiful Avalon of Woodside in the Adelaide Hills (which if you’re ever in the area make sure you check it out!) The cafe is set in a Georgian style house with an interior to match. There are classy chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, beautiful vintage furniture and lots of vintage/French/country style goodies to purchase as well.
All the waitresses and the owner of Avalon were so lovely and the food was delicious. My Mum and her friends couldn’t stop commenting on how nice the whole event was. Definitely a birthday for Mum to remember!
Here’s a few photos from the day –

Happy Birthday Mama!
I’m so glad that you enjoyed your birthday with a few friends and family. You’re a very special Mum – patient, generous and creative. Only you could make a seven metre length tulle skirt in a day. You know exactly how to make me feel better when I’m having a blah day. And you never fail to find the perfect shoes to go with every outfit!
Here’s to you!
