christmas twenty sixteen
So this is a bit late being posted but I had to fly out early on the 26th Dec so I didn’t get time. I know that it’s New Years Eve over in good old Australia today!
But here is Christmas Twenty Sixteen and what happened PLUS why I’m in America at the moment and how I feel about that :O
I don’t know about you but I love Christmas – the spirit, the ‘cheer’, the food, cute Christmas everything and the fact that it signals the end of year is approaching. And the most important reason of all – the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
my white legs come out to play 😛 #winterskin #butallyearround
Now, my family isn’t exactly a social bunch so we like to stay home on Christmas day and relax. We started a tradition of eating pancakes on the tallest hill on our property (Fox Peak). Pancakes always taste cooked on the barbecue on the coolest/tallest hill in our small town. Especially when there’s Irish vanilla cream to be had on said pancakes!
Then it’s presents, a lazy late lunch, lots of chocolate and gingerbread before dinner in our other favourite spot on our property – the Cottonwoods! If you ever want to feel instantly relaxed just head there. Best. Spot. Ever.
Though we’re not overly social we do love having our family and friends over for Christmas. This year our grandparents (on Dad’s side) joined us plus the neighbour-across-the-road boys and a life-long family friend. I honestly enjoy so much the constant banter, back and forth conversation when the fam gets together. It makes me happy to hear peoples stories and everyone laughing (or groaning depending on if someone just told a #dadjoke).
My family gets on maybe 40% of the time (anyone elses?! 😛 ) but on Christmas day I think we always make more of an effort to get along. Or maybe we’re just filled with the good cheer of chocolate #whocantell
Anyway, Christmas is an extra good time to be surrounded by family and friends. I know Christmas is over pretty much but don’t forget to tell your family how much they mean to you. I know I’d be lost without mine even though they all drive me BONKERS!!
love the whole crazy bunch of ’em
* * * *
This has actually been in the works for about a year but I just never got around to telling you all but I am now so that’s something at least right?
Basically my young cousin is a dancer and has the amazing opportunity to dance in Disneyworld! Amazing! Her mama, my mama’s sister, suggested that we both go with her and my cousin. Like a sister/cousin trip. Mainly because this would be the only time it would ever get to happen.
Throughout the whole lead up to this I was apprehensive because the trip is six weeks and, as I said before, my family is crazy but I love them and don’t like leaving them for very long.
I also have no money so #noshopping :O well, of course some shopping! It is me after all!
It’s pretty cool that my cousin has this opportunity to show off her dance skills in front of new crowds, an international crowd really. It’s not often a chance like this comes up. I’m going to have fun tagging along and seeing some of the favourite places I’ve visited before. I’ll try and see if I can meet up with some awesome photographers (even though I’m wondering if I’ll continue with that next year) but my heart is back in Adelaide with my boys. Who have just been through a flood, blackout and fire all in the space of a few days!
One thing I’ve discovered is that my family means everything to me. My greatest hope is that whatever happens to us we can come through the other side together and stronger.
Well, this was about Christmas, but turned into a post about how much I love my family and now I’m going to say Happy New Years! What a crazy bunch of words I’ve thrown together!
Have a good one guys and I’ll see ya’ll soon!
